CLEAR hosts Michigan Congressional staffers

Staffers from the Michigan Congressional delegation visited CLEAR on August 9 and 10, 2023, where they received an overview of our work from Dr. Carol Miller (CLEAR Co-Director), a discussion of legislative opportunities and goals from Dr. Lance Gable (Research Translation - Administrative Core), and a tour of laboratories at the Integrated Biological Sciences (IBio) building with assistance from Dr. Marianna Sadagurski (Project 4) and Dr. Chris Kassotis.

The visit was organized in collaboration with the University Research Corridor of Michigan - an alliance to highlight the larger contributions by the state's three research universities: Wayne State University, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. While the visit generally happens every other year, this was the first such tour since 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this educational tour, staffers from the Michigan Congressional delegation visited Wayne State to learn about federally supported research on campus and the importance of ongoing investment in science.
