CAC hosts Project 3 Trainee Mackenzie Connell for microinternship

In March, CLEAR Project 3 Trainee Mackenzie Connell took a break from exposing zebrafish to VOCs to instead learn about how VOCs are detected in collected samples. Through a micro-internship in collaboration with the Lumigen Instrument Center and CLEAR's Chemical Analysis Core, she learned techniques that apply to her own research that helps to optimize the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research CLEAR's work is all about. Below, Conneell shares her reflection about the experience in her own words:

"I am excited to share that I completed a CLEAR micro-internship in March at the Lumigen Instrument Center/Chemical Analysis Core. It was great to take a pause from our VOC exposures with zebrafish (Project 3) and learn the method for VOC detection in our samples. Thanks to the collaboration and support of Dr.'s Baker, Westrick, and Stemmer as well as Bailey Gordon (LIC) I am now able to apply what I've learned to optimize our sample collection and preparation moving forward."
